Abstract(s)
The present scientific investigation is part of the Master's degree in Human Resources Management at Católica Porto Business School, as an integral part of the Master's Dissertation. Its general objective is to understand the welcoming, onboarding/socialization and follow-up measures for immigrant workers, from the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries, which are being carried out by Portuguese civil construction companies. This is a qualitative investigation, and semi-structured interviews were carried out with immigrants with experience in the civil construction sector, in the north and center of Portugal, as well as with a human resources manager of a civil construction company and a Lawyer. It was found that the processes for welcoming, onboarding and following-up this group of individuals in companies within the sector are not yet fully structured, nor are they implemented in a transversal, strategic manner that is adapted to the specific needs of the immigrants. There are also some gaps in promoting workplace well-being, resulting in a decrease in employee motivation and talent retention.
