Fala-se de uma cada vez mais reduzida presença de intelectuais na esfera pública, o que faz com que variadíssimas questões surjam a partir das investigações sobre o assunto: quem são os intelectuais de hoje?, onde estão os intelectuais?, os intelectuais morreram?, entre (muitas) outras. O que aqui se irá propor é a possível existência do intelectual num estrato pouco explorado mas admitido: a esfera artística. A proposta delinear-se-á tendo em conta a constante alteração da esfera pública, através da evolução tecnológica e da relevância dos media na sociedade contemporânea, para culminar na demonstração de que músicos podem ser considerados “intelectuais”.
The recognized fact upon which the presence of intellectuals in the public sphere makes that a myriad of questions rise from the investigations on the subject: who are today’s intellectuals?, where are they?, have intellectuals died?, among (many) others. The present proposal suggests that the intellectual still, in fact, exists but inside a different and unconsidered sphere: art. This idea is based upon the constant change of the public sphere, through the technological evolution and the importance of the media in contemporary society, to show that musicians can, actually, be seen as “intellectuals”.
