Abstract(s)
Introdução: A ansiedade e evitamento social tem implicações ao nível funcional e social do
indivíduo. Tem-se verificado a importância das figuras de vinculação como auxílio perante
situações de risco. O período universitário pode envolver diversas situações de ansiedade e
evitamento social, perante a literatura as figuras de vinculação tendem a desempenhar um papel
importante no apoio e desenvolvimento das competências emocionais. Objetivos: Explorar o
papel das relações de vinculação (mãe, pai, melhor amigo e companheiro) na ansiedade e
evitamento social em situações sociais e de desempenho em estudantes universitário e explorar
se há diferenças nestes dois construtos em função do sexo, número de irmãos, estado civil dos
estudantes e dos seus pais e sucesso académico. Método: A amostra é constituída por estudantes
317 estudantes universitários, com idades compreendidas entre os 17 e os 25 anos (M = 20.93)
de nacionalidade portuguesa que preencheram um questionário sociodemográfico, a Escala de
Ansiedade e Evitamento em Situações de Desempenho e Interação Social e o Questionário de
Experiências nas Relações Próximas - Estruturas Relacionais. Resultados: Pontuações médias
da EAESDIS foram superiores nas mulheres; correlações significativas entre as dimensões da
EAESDIS, a idade e número de irmãos; correlações significativas entre as dimensões da
EAESDIS e várias dimensões da ECR-RS. Não foram encontradas diferenças entre a EAESDIS
e o estado civil dos participantes, estado civil dos pais e com o sucesso académico. Conclusões:
Os resultados do presente estudo permitem reforçar a influência das relações de vinculação na
ansiedade e evitamento social em alunos universitários.
Introduction: Anxiety and social avoidance have implications for the functional and social level of the individual. The importance of attachment figures has been verified as an aid to risk situations. The university period may involve various situations of anxiety and social avoidance. In the literature, attachment figures tend to play an important role in supporting and developing emotional skills. Objectives: To explore the role of bonding relationships (mother, father, best friend, and partner) in anxiety and social avoidance in social and performance situations in college students and to explore whether there are differences in these two constructs as a function of sex, number of siblings, marital status of students and their parents and academic success. Method: The sample consists of students 317 university students, aged between 17 and 25 years (M = 20.93) of portuguese nationality who completed a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Anxiety and Avoidance Scale in Situations of Performance and Social Interaction and the Relationship Experiences Questionnaire - Relational Structures. Results: EAESDIS mean scores were higher in women; significant correlations between EAESDIS dimensions, age and number of siblings; significant correlations between EAESDIS dimensions and various dimensions of the RCT-RS. No differences were found between EAESDIS and participants' marital status, parental marital status, and academic achievement. Conclusions: The results of the present study reinforce the influence of linking relationships on anxiety and social avoidance in college students.
