Abstract(s)
Corporate Social Responsibility is a subject increasingly studied not only by the academic community, but also in the business context. Nowadays, there are more and more companies in which the only concern is not merely the achievement of profit, but rather an expansion to sustainability, environmental and social issues, in a perspective of internal and external social responsibility. Social Work is a profession of intervention, promoter of quality of life and human rights, which aims to achieve social change and contribute to social Welfare. In this sense, if we allocate its intervention to the business context - Social Work in Companies - social workers can take on several functions, including direct psychosocial support to workers and their families, as a way to reduce absenteeism and any other problems that compromise their good work performance. However, due to the exponential growth in the number of elderly people in our country and the challenges that this poses, not only to the people themselves, but also to societies and organizations, a greater awareness on the part of employers is essential, namely in the way they accompany workers for preparing their retirement, as a social responsibility. The research is based on a qualitative research, with semi-structured interviews to a total of fourteen social workers who work in companies in Portugal. From this dissertation thus emerged the need for a greater intervention by social workers in the corporate context, specifically in the area of internal and external social responsibility, as well as for companies to have more concern for planning and preparing for retirement, as steps towards promoting active and healthy aging, based on a framework of sustainability.
