| dc.description.abstract | Introdução: O Uso Problemático da Internet (UPI) está presente em todo o mundo (Chou, & Hsiao, 2000) e apesar do crescente interesse, a concetualização deste fenómeno é ainda muito confusa (Tokunaga, & Rains, 2016). Objetivo: Explorar se a Ansiedade e Evitamento Sociais e o sexo são preditores significativos do UPI. Método: Participaram 300 estudantes universitários portugueses, com idades compreendidas entre os 18 anos e os 25 anos (M= 20.37, DP= 1.72), sendo a maioria do sexo feminino (n= 239, 79,7%). Os participantes preencheram um questionário sociodemográfico, a Escala do Uso Generalizado Problemático da Internet (EUGPI2) e a Escala de Ansiedade e Evitamento em Situações de Desempenho e Interação Social (EAESDIS). Resultados: foram encontradas pontuações médias na EUGPI2 que revelam risco médio. Foi encontrada uma relação significativa, positiva, entre a subescala da Ansiedade e todas as dimensões da EUGPI2. O evitamento correlacionou-se positivamente com algumas dimensões da EUGPI2 (Preferência pela Interação Online e Autorregulação Deficiente). O sexo feminino apresentou níveis de Ansiedade e Evitamento mais elevados, e o sexo masculino níveis significativamente mais elevados de Consequências Negativas. A Ansiedade social revelou ser um preditor positivo e significativo de Preferência pela Interação Online, de Regulação do Humor e das Consequências Negativas. Enquanto que o Evitamento revelou ser um preditor positivo e significativo de Preferência pela Interação Online. Conclusão: a Ansiedade e Evitamento sociais desempenham um papel preditor positivo em algumas dimensões do UPI. Perante as atuais dúvidas acerca do desenvolvimento do UPI, surge então este estudo que tem como principal contributo a compreensão dos fatores etiológicos implicados na expressão do UPI. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Introduction: The Problematic Internet Use (PIU) is an issue present all over the world (Chou, & Hsiao, 2000), and despite the interest, the conceptualization of this phenom is still very confusing (Tokunaga, & Rains, 2016). Objective: To explore if anxiety and social avoidance, and gender are significant predictors of PIU. Method: Participated 300 portuguese university students, with age between 18 years and 25 years (M= 20.37, SD = 1.72), being the majority of the female gender (n= 239, 79.7%). Participants complet a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Generalized Problematic Internet Use Scale – 2 (GPIUS2) and the Social Interection and Performance Anxiety and Avoidance Scale (SIPAAS). Results: Were found average scores in EUGPI2 which reveals medium danger. It was found a consequential relation, positive, between the Anxiety subscale and all dimensions of GPIUS2. The Social Avoidance correlates positively with some dimensions of GPIUS2 (Preference for Online Interaction and Deficient Self-Regulation). The female sex showed higher levels of Anxiety and Social Avoidance, and the male sex significantly higher levels of Negative Consequences. The Social Anxiety revealed to be a positive and significant predictor of the Preference for Online Interaction, the Regulation of Humour and Negative Consequences. While the Social Avoidance revealed to be positive and significant of the Preference for Online Interaction. Conclusion: The Anxiety and Social Avoidance play an role in some dimensions of PIU. Towards the current doubts about the development of PIU, so it comes this study, that has as main contribution the understanding of the etiological factors involved in PIU expression. | pt_PT |
