Abstract(s)
as questões educativas, daí decorrente.
filhas.
The name of the present thesis is “Female empowerment in the Portuguese gipsy social group – case study in projects of “Programa Escolhas” (Braga county). The main issue of this work is to reflect on the way in which adult academic and professional processes influence (or not) the relational changes and the female gipsy empowerment in the private and public spheres. In this perspective, we have taken into account the status of gipsy women within its culture, as well as the consequent educational issues. We have analysed the definitions of social exclusion and integration, aiming to evaluate in what measure gipsy people are affected by this situation. We have also reflected on the public policies, national and local programs, as well as the existing solutions so that gipsy people can fight exclusion and integrate in the dominant society without losing their identity. In short, the course already mentioned doesn’t seem enough for the intended integration. However gipsy women aren’t aware of that, these courses are the first step for their empowerment and, indirectly, for the empowerment of their daughters.
