Abstract(s)
Several researchers argue that high levels of employee mission perception and identification with the company leads to more productivity and better overall performance. This research project will study another important element in this organizational framework which seems to have been overlooked by many researchers: the physical work space. Companies can use sustainable architecture on their physical workspace to illustrate and strengthen their ecological/sustainable mission. Several studies confirmed that the workspace has psychological and behavioral effects on the worker. Therefore, as workspace can influence employees´ satisfaction, it can also increase employees´ perception of mission. This research focuses on the concepts of organizational mission, sustainable industry, physical space and organizational communications to propose a new approach to mission communications strategy. Based on relevant theory on this subjects and the study of the American company Recycle Future, we in fact verified that using the physical space, as an object of mission communications, is effective towards employee involvement in the company.
