Abstract(s)
adaptar constantemente a novas realidades.
Named Ser Jornalista em Portugal: Do Papel ao Digital (2000 a 2018) (in English: Being a Journalist in Portugal: From Paper to Digital (2000 to 2018), this thesis aims to understand the journalists’ adaptation to a job market that is in permanent mutation, through the understanding of the job’s evolution in the last 18 years. We live in a world in constant change where individuals need to continuously adapt themselves to new realities. And the journalistic job market is no exception. With the technological advances, career mutation and the creation of an increasingly competitive environment, we can say it’s necessary that employees react and adapt to change. In a way to understand this new reality in the journalistic occupation, first it was studied the job evolution and were carried out interviews to three journalists of different platforms (television, radio and press). Through the choice of these three professionals that already exercised their job before the year 2000, when the online transition started to become more clear, the main goal was to understand the changes the profession went through by the eyes of those who are in that job market before and after the technologies’ “boom”. The current study aims not to only understand the dynamics of the journalistic profession in a more detailed way, but also understand that if all the mutations it has been suffering will lead to an inevitable extinction.
