Abstract(s)
electrical nerve stimulation);
radiofrequência pulsada e convencional e neuromodulação;
- Medidas farmacológicas: ACP (Analgesia Controlada pelo Paciente), a
This report refers to all the activities performed during the probation period included in the Specialization Course in Medical-Chirurgical Nursing, provided by Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Portuguese Catholic University), Health Science Institute – Centro Regional das Beiras. The probation was composed of two modules, in a total of 360 hours. The third module – optional, was performed in the Pain Treatment Multidisciplinary Unit at the Puerta del Hierro University Hospital, from October 6th to November 4th, for 160 hours. The main objective of this probation period was the development of scientific, technical and relational competences related to pain. Thus, I think I have acquired technical and scientific competences dealing with a patient in pain, through the application of: - Non pharmacological measures using non-invasive techniques: interferencial stimulator, transdermal iontoforese, TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation); - Non pharmacological measures using invasive techniques: conventional and pulse radio frequency and neuron modulation. - Pharmacological measures: PCA (patient controlled anaesthesia), NCA (nurse controlled perfusion), CIP (continual infusion pump) and DSIB (disposable silicon infuser balloon). The first module – Emergency Room was performed in São Teotónio Hospital in Viseu, from November 25th, 2008 to January 31st, 2009, in a total of 180 hours. During this probation period I think I have acquired competences dealing with a patient in pain in the trial sector. I have also developed my ability to sensitize and conduct teams, helping them to reflect about their performances and orientate them in order to make them more effective
