Esta dissertação com o tema “Maria e o batismo na missão pastoral de são Luís de Montfort uma pastoral para os nossos dias” pretende ser um estudo sobre a importância que, São Luís Maria Grignion de Montfort, deu à renovação das promessas batismais do povo cristão, durante a sua atividade de missionário apostólico na França do Século XVIII.
Vivendo uma vida interior na profunda contemplação dos mistérios de Cristo, ele encontra uma via segura para chegar seguramente ao entendimento da Sabedoria Encarnada, Jesus Cristo, o Verbo do Pai, e filho de Maria. Maria vai ser o meio mais seguro que Montfort vai encontrar para chegar a Jesus e a vivência profunda das promessas batismais, e é esta a proposta que ele passa a fazer ao homem de todas a épocas, através da consagração total do género humano a Jesus pelas mãos de Maria.
Montfort descobre a profunda relação do batismo com o mistério da encarnação do Filho de Deus no seio de Maria. E é esta mesma relação que vamos tentar perceber na nossa dissertação olhando para a sagrada escritura e para os documentos da Igreja , numa análise sucinta, para compreender como ao longo dos tempos a figura de Maria foi relacionada com o mistério batismal da Igreja, e como a Igreja olha para a figura de Maria e a vai relacionando com o batismo ao longo dos tempos.
Na consagração a Jesus por Maria, Montfort estabelece um itinerário de crescimento e aprofundamento da vivência das promessas batismais , na intensificação de uma vida interior, cultivada na palavra de Deus e na oração de intimidade com Deus , numa autêntica devoção a Maria, mas também no ambiente vital concreto de cada crente enraizado numa comunidade cristã, local de privilégio para viver a sua consagração a Jesus pelas mãos de Maria. O Crente é convidado a testemunhar na vida concreta os benefícios de uma relação “privilegiada” com Maria, a consagrada ao Pai por excelência e aquela que melhor soube receber e entregar ao Pai tudo de si.
A proposta de Montfort não é uma proposta da sua época, mas sim, uma proposta, viva e atual , para o crente de todas a épocas e mais concretamente para o crente de hoje que é chamado a viver, na sua comunidade, com a mesma autenticidade e veracidade, numa entrega sem reservas, o seu batismo, renovado em cada dia e em cada momento pelo caminho seguro que é Maria, através da consagração a Jesus.
Como diria o P. de Montfort em linguagem moderna, se queremos viver a plenitude do nosso batismo, sendo total pertença de Cristo, então confiemos essa tarefa a quem melhor o soube e sabe fazer, Maria a Mãe de Jesus, a nossa mãe. Aquela que quando é invocada repete continuamente em nós o nome de seu Filho – JESUS.
This dissertation with the theme "Mary and the baptism in the pastoral mission of St. Louis de Montfort: a pastoral for our time" is intended to be a study of the importance that St. Louis Maria Grignion de Montfort placed on the renewal of the baptismal promises of the Christian people, during his work as an apostolic missionary in France during the 18th century. Living an internal life in the deep contemplation of the mysteries of Christ, he finds a secure way to arrive with confidence at the understanding of the Incarnate Wisdom, Jesus Christ, the Word of the Father, and son of Mary. Mary will be the most secure way that Montfort finds to come to Jesus and the profound experience of the baptismal promises, and this is the proposal that he begins to make to men of all ages, through the total consecration of the human race to Jesus through Mary's hands. Montfort discovers the profound relationship between baptism and the mystery of the incarnation of the Son of God in the bosom of Mary. And it is this same relationship that we will try to understand in our dissertation, looking at the sacred scripture and the documents of the Church, in a succinct analysis, to come to understand how throughout the ages the figure of Mary was associated with the baptismal mystery of the Church, and how the Church looks at the figure of Mary and relates her to baptism throughout the ages. In his consecration to Jesus through Mary, Montfort establishes an itinerary of growth and deepened experience in living the baptismal promises, through the intensification of an inner life, cultivated in the word of God and in the intimate prayer with God, an authentic devotion to Mary, but also in concrete vital environment of each believer whose life is rooted in a Christian community, a place of privilege to live his consecration to Jesus through the hands of Mary. The Believer is invited to witness in real life the benefits of a “privileged” relationship with Mary, the one consecrated to the Father for excellence and the one who best knew how to receive and give all of herself to the Father. Montfort's proposal is not a proposal limited to his time, but a proposal, alive and contemporary, for the believer of all times and more specifically for the believer today who is called to live, in his community, with the same authenticity and veracity, in an unbridled surrender, his/her own baptism, renewed every day and at every moment by the safe path that is Mary, through consecration to Jesus. As Fr. de Montfort would say in modern language, if we want to live the fullness of our baptism, belonging totally to Christ, then let us entrust this task to the one who knew Him best and knows how to do it, Mary the Mother of Jesus, our mother. The one who, when invoked, continually repeats in us the name of her Son - JESUS.
