O pão é presença diária na nossa mesa e a sua origem e evolução acompanha a História da Humanidade. Para além de alimento basilar da nossa alimentação, o pão é alimento espiritual e reúne em si um importante significado simbólico-religioso, que se expressa, para o Cristianismo, de forma sublime na eucaristia. O tema deste relatório incide pois na análise desse simbolismo no campo antropológico e sacramental. Mas se a necessidade de pão é comunitária, como se pode ficar indiferente quando milhões de seres humanos estão privados desse pão? Assistimos a uma multiplicação de instituições de solidariedade, criação de múltiplas estratégias e reformas para combater a desigualdade e a pobreza, mas o problema mantêm-se. Uma das formas de combater este problema passa pela criação de critérios de ordenação da vida social, onde a dignidade da pessoa humana, a importância do bem comum, a opção pelos mais pobres e a solidariedade se tornem um valioso contributo para a acção da Humanidade na luta contra a fome. É neste ponto que se insere a importância da disciplina de EMRC como sensibilização na construção de um futuro com vista ao bem comum.
Bread is a daily presence at our table and its origins and evolution is part of the History of Humanity. In addition to the basic nourishment of our food, bread is spiritual nourishment and has in itself an important symbolic-religious meaning, which expresses itself for Christianity in a sublime way in the Eucharist. The theme of this report therefore focuses on the analysis of this symbolism in the anthropological and sacramental field. But if the need for bread is communal, how can one remain indifferent when millions of human beings are deprived of that bread? We see a multiplicity of institutions of solidarity, multiple strategies and reforms to combat inequality and poverty, but the problem remains. One of the ways to fight this problem is to create criteria for the ordering of social life, where the dignity of the human person, the importance of the common good, the option for the poor and solidarity are a valuable contribution to humanity's fight against hunger. It is at this point that the importance of the discipline of EMRC is included as sensitization in the construction of a future for the common good.
