Abstract(s)
A presente tese de mestrado tem como objetivo investigar a delinquência juvenil feminina sob uma perspetiva feminista, analisando profundamente este fenómeno social. A delinquência juvenil feminina, apesar do seu impacto significativo na sociedade, é um tema complexo e frequentemente negligenciado nas investigações. Este estudo visa contrariar essa lacuna, analisando as experiências das jovens delinquentes, os fatores que contribuem para o seu comportamento desviante e as respostas, quer do sistema de justiça, quer das políticas públicas a este fenómeno. Com a abordagem feminista, pretende-se compreender como as normas de género, as estruturas de poder e as desigualdades sociais influenciam a delinquência juvenil feminina. Neste sentido, serão exploradas as teorias feministas dos percursos, destacando a importância do contexto de vida das jovens, incluindo experiências de vitimação e traumas, na sua entrada no sistema de justiça criminal. Será, ainda, analisado como as respostas do sistema de justiça e das políticas públicas têm sido moldadas pelas perspetivas feministas, bem como as melhorias necessárias para uma gestão mais eficaz da delinquência juvenil feminina. Assim, este estudo pretende contribuir para uma compreensão mais abrangente e sensível de um fenómeno muitas vezes negligenciado e tentará oferecer contributos valiosos para intervenções políticas e práticas no campo da justiça juvenil.
The main objective of this current master dissertation is to study the female juvenile delinquency from a feminist perspective which carefully examines this social phenomenon. Female juvenile delinquency has been largely ignored in studies even though it has considerable effects on the society at large. Therefore, this research will fill that gap by investigating the experiences of young offenders, factors that contribute to their deviant behavior and how the justice system plus public policies respond to it. This approach seeks to examine how power structures, gender roles and inequalities affect female youth crime using feminist perspective. It will also delve into feminist theories of pathways that underscore women's life context such as victimization and trauma as important predictors of their entry into criminal justice system. Consequently, this research will investigate how feminist perspectives have shaped responses from justice systems and public policies on these matters as well as suggest ways they can be altered/strengthened for better results concerning female juvenile delinquency. In other words, as far as understanding an often overlooked matter is concerned, it is necessary for this paper to offer policy implications that are useful in influencing relevant practices in the field of juvenile justice.
