Globalization and ever-changing scenarios create countless challenges for companies and increase their level of complexity. This makes the decision making process increasingly critical and highlights the need for organizations to be able to respond quickly and efficiently. Thus, the success of companies is determined by the strategy they employ, focusing on maximizing the value created for all the stakeholders involved. It is imperative that multi-business organizations align their corporate strategy with their business strategy. The Execution Premium Model emerges as an integrated management system that aims to align the strategic formulation and planning with the operations of an organization. Based on a review of the theoretical foundations of corporate and business strategy, strategic planning, management control and the Execution Premium Model, this paper aims to analyze how business strategy aligns with corporate strategy. This Master Final Assignment intends to reinforce what is advocated in the literature and apply it in the business context of an organization in the logistics and transport sector in Portugal, more specifically in the Business Line Road Freight of the Rangel Group. The research methodology adopted was the case study, supported by interviews and internal documents of the company. The conclusions show that the alignment of corporate strategy with business strategy can be achieved through the use of tools such as the Strategy Map and Balanced Socrecard and impacted by strategic thinking events. It is hoped that this work will affirm itself as the starting point for the study of the remaining Business Lines of the Rangel Group, in order to reflect and compare the levels of alignment within the organization.
