Abstract(s)
This study, grounded in the Leadership Effectiveness Model (Gomes, 2020), aims to contribute to its validation by examining (1) the effect of leadership congruence between their commitments and actions on employee self-perceived performance and subsequent turnover intention, and (2) the moderating effect of communication quality on these relationships. Data was collected through an online questionnaire administered to 120 professionals from diverse sectors, with varying years of experience and ages, the resulting data being organized and analyzed by means of the program SPSS. Regarding self-perceived performance, a significant positive influence of leadership congruence was found, this was then also observed for turnover intention, which, showed a significant decrease in the presence of higher perceived leadership congruence. Finally, the moderating effect of communication quality was partially proved, with only the moderating effect of negative communication on the relationship between perceived leadership congruence and employee self-perceived performance being identified, with negative communication serving as an attenuating force.
