Em Portugal, a Lei da PMA n.º 17/2016 passou a permitir que todas as mulheres, independentemente do estado civil e da respetiva orientação sexual, tenham a possibilidade de recorrer às técnicas de PMA. O presente estudo tem como objetivo geral explorar os conhecimentos e perspetivas de jovens mulheres face a esta nova legislação. Deste estudo exploratório fazem parte seis participantes, selecionadas através de um processo de amostragem não probabilística por conveniência. Considerando uma metodologia qualitativa, foram realizadas seis entrevistas segundo um guião elaborado para o efeito, sendo os dados posteriormente submetidos a uma análise semi-indutiva com recurso ao software NVivo. Os principais resultados indicam informação limitada da própria, das outras mulheres e da sociedade em geral quanto à Lei da PMA n.º 17/2016 e à possibilidade de maternidade independente. As participantes referem-se a conhecimentos sobre a PMA, dado o avanço científico desta área e o seu recurso por parte de casais heterossexuais. Compreender este fenómeno, no contexto português, possibilita um acompanhamento eficaz te todas as mulheres que desejam ter um filho, considerando um projeto monoparental ou homoparental, permitindo criar as condições necessárias para a sua saúde mental, e que quando a sua decisão reprodutiva integrar a PMA, exista sucesso terapêutico.
In Portugal, the MAR Decree-Law No. 17/2016 now allows all women, regardless of marital status and sexual orientation, the possibility to use MAR techniques. This study aims to explore the knowledge and perspectives of young women regarding this new legislation. This exploratory study includes six participants, selected through a non-probability convenience sampling process. Considering a qualitative methodology, six interviews were conducted according to a script prepared for this purpose, and the data was subsequently subjected to a semi-inductive analysis using NVivo software. The main results indicate limited information from the self, other women, and society in general regarding the MAR Decree-Law No. 17/2016 and the possibility of independent motherhood. The participants refer to knowledge about MAR, given the scientific advancement in this area and its use by heterosexual couples. Understanding this phenomenon, in the Portuguese context, enables an effective follow-up to all women who wish to have a child, considering a single-parent or same-sex parenting project, allowing the creation of the necessary conditions for their mental health, and that when their reproductive decision integrates MAR, there is therapeutic success.
