This report appears in the final stretch of the 15th Master's Course in Medical Surgical Nursing in the area of specialization in Nursing - Person in Critical Situation, by the Portuguese Catholic University´s Health Sciences Institute. Based on a descriptive methodology and critical-reflexive analysis, supported by bibliographic research, I seek to analyze and reflect on the experiences and activities performed, difficulties experienced, referring to objectives initially established that allow the acquisition of common and specific competencies in the area of specialization. Seeking to mobilize specific and sustained knowledge in the most current scientific evidence, based on ethical, scientific and human values, it is expected that the nurse specialized in Medical-Surgical Nursing - Person in critical situation -, is able to act before the patient and family experiencing critical health/disease processes, addressing and reflecting on complex situations, making decisions based on theoretical support, using a critical approach about nursing practices. The final stage took place in a hospital in the region of Lisbon and Tagus Valley, in two different contexts, Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Service, and there was accreditation to the curricular unit "The Person in Critical Situation and Family - Surveillance and Clinical Decision" - for the professional career and experience previously acquired. This report also reports a Systematic Literature Review, on a theme of personal interest, transversal to one of the stages and ends with a final reflection on the course made.
