Abstract(s)
Introdução: A busca da qualidade dos cuidados que prestamos aos doentes é um processo de
procura permanente. Devemos certificarmo-nos do que os utentes querem, conhecer os motivos das
suas escolhas e deste modo, devemos ir ao encontro de soluções que promovam o seu bem-estar.
Este estudo tem como objetivo descrever os motivos que estão na base da escolha do local, onde
gostariam de serem cuidados, os doentes que se encontram internados em Unidades de Cuidados
Paliativos.
Metodologia: Estudo descritivo simples, observacional e transversal com metodologia quantitativa.
Aplicado um questionário em contexto presencial (Investigadora-doente). Amostra acidental onde
são incluídos os doentes internados em UCP da região Centro e região de Lisboa. Para tratamento
dos dados recorremos ao programa SPSS.
Resultados: Os doentes são oncológicos, na maioria do sexo masculino, casados, vivem com o
cônjuge, residem em vila/cidade, auferem rendimentos entre 250€ e 505€ e com acesso a Rede de
Cuidados. Também, na sua maioria, têm entre 80-90 anos. Cerca de 78 encontram-se no local onde
querem ser cuidados - UCP. Os motivos que fundamentam a sua resposta são o melhor controlo da
dor, apoio emocional, proximidade de familiares, ajuda nas AVD e casa sem condições ou apoio.
Dos restantes, 57,1% querem ser cuidados em casa porque estão perto dos familiares, têm casa com
boas condições e têm apoio.
Conclusões: A maioria dos doentes neste estudo estão no local onde querem ser cuidados, ou seja,
em Unidades de Cuidados Paliativos. O melhor controlo da dor, o apoio emocional, a proximidade
dos familiares, ajuda nas AVD, casa sem condições e sem apoio são as razões para essa preferência.
Dos doentes que não querem ser cuidados em UCP, a maioria quer ser cuidado em casa
e os motivos prendem-se com estar perto dos familiares, casa com boas condições e o
apoio emocional.

We must make sure what the users want, know the reasons for their choices and in this way, we must find solutions that promote their well-being. This study aims to describe the reasons that are the basis of the choice of place, where they would like to be cared for, patients who are hospitalized in Palliative Care Units. Methodology: Simple, observational and transversal descriptive study with quantitative methodology. A questionnaire was applied in face-to-face context (Researcher-patient). Accidental sample where the patients admitted to a PCU of the Central region and region of Lisbon are included. For processing the data we used the SPSS program. Results: Patients are cancer patients, mostly males, married, living with their spouse, living in a village / city, receiving income between € 250 and € 505 and accessing the Care Network. Also, most are between 80-90 years old. 77.8% They are in the place where they want to be cared for - UCP. The reasons for their response are better control of pain, emotional support, family closeness, help in ADL and home without conditions or support. Of the remainder, 57.1% want to be cared for at home because they are close to relatives, have a house with good conditions and have support. Conclusions: Most of the patients in this study are in the place where they want to be cared for, ie in Palliative Care Units. Better control of pain, emotional support, closeness of family members, help in ADL, home without conditions and without support are the reasons for this preference.
