Abstract(s)
O presente estudo pretende rever literatura sobre o processo de desenvolvimento da subsidiária, explorando os fatores associados e interligados, atribuição da sede, escolhas da subsidiária e ambiente local. Neste estudo, do ponto de vista das escolhas da subsidiária, dá-se maior atenção ao papel dos gestores de subsidiárias estrangeiras.
Sob a perspetiva do desenvolvimento da subsidiária, pretende-se averiguar até que ponto o papel dos gestores de subsidiárias estrangeiras influencia o desenvolvimento das mesmas.
A partir deste ponto de vista, procurou-se perceber esta questão à luz de um único estudo de caso, uma subsidiária alemã pertencente ao setor elétrico e eletrónico. O estudo de caso revelou que um fator determinante no processo de desenvolvimento desta subsidiária foi uma Universidade, situada na mesma região, cuja literatura pouco referencia e explora. Em virtude da parceria entre a empresa alemã e a instituição de ensino superior, esta última revelou-se fundamental, uma vez que condicionou o papel dos gestores no processo de desenvolvimento da subsidiária.
The following study intends to revise literature above the subsidiary’s development process, exploring the associated and interconnected factors, headquarters assignment, subsidiary choices and local environment. In this study, in the point of view of subsidiary’s choices, a bigger emphasis is done towards the role of the managers from foreign subsidiaries. Under the perspective of the subsidiary’s development, we intend to understand until what point the role of managers from the foreign subsidiary’s influence the subsidiary’s development. From that point of view, we tried to understand the question to the light of a single case study: a german subsidiary from the electrical and electronic sector. The study came to demonstrate that the determining factor in the development process of this subsidiary was the University, located in the same region, which literature does not reference and explore that much. In virtue of this partnership between the german company and the institution, the last one ended up being fundamental due to fact that it limited the manager’s role in what it comes to the subsidiary’s development process.
