Abstract(s)
a Intranet.
The objective of this thesis has two main phases. The first phase includes an analysis of the content available on "Portal Metro" which is the Metropolitano de Lisboa's Intranet, and try to understand whether if this content meet the employees' needs in their daily usage or not. The second phase desires to understand which are the preferences and usability made by the employees of the content available in the Intranet. This content is divided in four main areas in order to facilitate the choice. It also wants to analyse the relationship between these divided contents and the functional area of each employee. This analysis will allow the organization to target the content to a specific functional area and so improve the Internal Communication. In the context of this study, it is important to understand the impact of Internal Communication not only to the organization itself, but also to the organizational culture, the employees and their motivation and satisfaction to the job they are performing. It is also very important to recognise the contributions of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in organizations and specifically in Internal Communication through the usage of an essential tool: the Intranet. This case study of Metropolitano de Lisboa allowed to analyse in which way the existence of an employee-directed Intranet induce an Internal Communication that promotes the employees' development, motivating them to be better employees and to do a better job in their organization but also giving them the sense of belonging to that specific organization. Through this study results we were able to validate the three hypothesis of investigation. This means that the content available on the Intranet "Portal Metro" meet the employees' needs of information.
