The European Cooperation in Science and Technology COST Action CA22156 TransformERS (Transformations international Experience and Research network for Sustainable futures, https://www.cost-transformers.eu/) aims to inform the research, policy and practice about delivering justice in sustainability transitions under a changing global context. The COST Action TransformERS is composed by more than 250 members belonging to 44 European and non-European countries, collaborating to coordinate and position research relevant to transformative societal systems in the next four years (2023–2027). Societal transformations processes in the face of urgent challenges, such as climate change and its consequences for ecosystems and biodiversity – i.e., society-climate-biodiversity complex –, and social injustice and inequality are taking centre stage in frameworks – e.g., IPCC, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change; IPBES, Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services –, and policies as interconnected global crises. However, TransformERS network emphasises that current research and knowledge into transformations is highly fragmented among policymakers, practitioners and researchers from a wide range of contexts, disciplines, projects and perspectives. TranformERS creates a networking infrastructure to investigate the needs to (i) identify what transformation relevant knowledge is held and by whom; (ii) understand how the different pieces fit together; (iii) comprehend what the big picture is, as what we know about transformations collectively; and, (iv) identify the missing pieces, by understanding what we still need to create knowledge on. Thus, comply with the key objectives of inform transformation policies, shape transformations research and practice, and train transformations researchers from across broad disciplines and topics.pt_PT
