Abstract(s)
O cuidado ao doente crítico e à sua família apresenta particularidades inerentes à complexidade dos processos de doença e/ou falência orgânica. Estas particularidades requerem o desenvolvimento de competências especializadas. O presente Relatório, integrado no Curso de Mestrado em Enfermagem com Especialidade em Enfermagem Médico-Cirúrgica da Universidade Católica Portuguesa, tem como objetivo principal descrever e analisar os conhecimentos e competências adquiridas no cuidado ao doente crítico e à sua família ao longo do estágio. Foram realizados três módulos de estágio envolvendo as principais fases de atuação na abordagem destes doentes, nomeadamente no INEM, no Serviço de Urgência e Serviço de Medicina Intensiva do Hospital Pedro Hispano. Ao longo deste relatório é efetuada a descrição e análise crítico-reflexiva das atividades desenvolvidas, dando ênfase a aspetos do domínio profissional como a gestão, a comunicação, a prática baseada na evidência e o controlo e prevenção da infeção. Esta análise permite evidenciar a aquisição e desenvolvimento de competências nos domínios definidos pela Ordem dos Enfermeiros. Refletir sobre esta experiência permitiu compreender os problemas da prática profissional e as dificuldades inerentes ao doente crítico e à sua família, nos diferentes contextos, bem como otimizar e humanizar a prestação de cuidados e a relação com o doente e a sua família.
The care of critically ill patients and relatives present particularities related to the complexity of disease processes and/or organic dysfunction. This particularities demand the development of specialized skills. Regarding this subject, and associated to the Nursing Mastery for the Medical-Surgical Specialization of the Portuguese Catholic University, this report was submitted to describe and analyze the knowledge and skills acquired for the treatment of critically ill patients and relatives. Three internships were performed regarding the main steps for the approach of these complex patients: prehospital emergency care (INEM), intrahospital emergency care and intensive care unit in Pedro Hispano Hospital. This report describes and evaluates the activities performed, stressing professional aspects related to management skills, communication skills, evidence-based practices and infection control and prevention. This analysis allows acquisition and development of abilities related to the domains defined by the Nurses College. Thoughtful comprehension of this practices consents awareness of several problems related to professional activities and to the difficulties experienced in the care of critically ill patients and relatives, from different perspectives, which shall improve the level of care provided and humanize the complex relation with the patient and relatives.
