This dissertation discusses vernacular photography, taking as its object of observation and reflection the images produced within the family context, focusing on the everyday feminine and the matriarchal figure that traverses it. The study draws on the analysis of the author's personal archive, composed of photographs of her grandmother and other women in her family, and seeks to understand how these images, produced in the intimate and domestic sphere, can be rethought as expressions of affective memory. The research examines the tensions between documentation and representation that permeate the photographic record, situating vernacular photography as a Space of subjectivity and identity construction. Furthermore, it discusses the historical configuration of the family and the social position of women, articulating these dimensions with everyday photographic practice. The theoretical framework draws on authors such as Boris Kossoy, Susan Sontag, Francois Soulages, Atilio Avancini, Roland Barthes, and Geoffrey Batchen, whose contributions help to situate vernacular photography as a field of reflection on memory, time, and experience. It also establishes the reciprocity of the analyzed images, sourced both from both old family archives and from recent artistic productions, constitutes a corpus that testifies the permanence and reinvention of the feminine in domestic space.
