Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho resulta de um estágio de oito meses, entre outubro de 2019 a
junho de 2020, realizado no Núcleo de Tradução do Instituto Diplomático do Ministério dos
Negócios Estrangeiros. Optei por realizar um estágio, e consequentemente elaborar um
relatório, de modo a colocar em prática os ensinamentos teóricos que aprendi ao longo do
meu percurso académico, complementando assim a minha aprendizagem dentro da área de
tradução e dos seus estudos e práticas.
Pretende-se apresentar de forma detalhada a instituição e também o método de
trabalho desenvolvido, incluindo os tipos de textos trabalhados e os seus processos de
tradução. Sendo que o teletrabalho teve a sua influência no estágio, devido às circunstâncias
atuais da pandemia COVID-19, foi considerado pertinente incluir os vários elementos que o
diferenciam do trabalho presencial no presente relatório. Para além disso, durante os oito
meses de estágio a tradução dos vários documentos foi feita com o auxílio de uma ferramenta
de tradução assistida por computador, sendo desse modo pertinente apresentar e analisar os
diversos aspetos do programa utilizado, tendo em conta as suas vantagens e desvantagens.
O mundo institucional e o mundo diplomático que enquadraram a minha experiência como
estagiária eram-me praticamente desconhecidos. Do contacto com estas duas realidades e do
conhecimento adquirido foi possível retirar várias conclusões, desde o modo como a
atividade de tradução é desenvolvida à forma como os tradutores institucionais e
diplomáticos são retratados, tendo todo este processo os seus pontos positivos e negativos.
Em suma, o presente relatório demonstra que foi possível explorar, tanto na
componente prática como teórica, os vários conceitos e elementos dos mundos institucional
e diplomático e também o papel que a tecnologia desempenha na área de tradução. Toda esta
aprendizagem ancorada em perspetivas e opiniões próprias foi indispensável e crucial no que
respeita ao meu crescimento tanto profissional como pessoal.
This work stems from an eight-month internship, between October 2019 and June 2020, held at the Translation Body of the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I choose to do an internship, and consequently to elaborate a report, in order to put into practice the theoretical teachings I have learned throughout my academic career, thus complementing my learning within the area of translation and its studies and practices. The aim is to present in detail the institution and also the working method developed, including the types of texts that were worked on and their translation processes. Since telework had its influence on the internship, due to the current circumstances of the COVID19 pandemic, it was considered pertinent to include the various elements that differentiate it from face-to-face work in this report. In addition, during the eight-month internship the translation of the various documents was conducted with the help of a computer-aided translation tool, and so it is relevant to present and analyse the various aspects of the used program, taking into account their advantages and disadvantages. The institutional world and the diplomatic world that framed my experience as an intern were practically unknown to me. From the contact with these two realities and the knowledge acquired it was possible to draw several conclusions, from the way in which the translation activity is developed to the way in which the institutional and diplomatic translators are portrayed, with the whole process having its positive and negative points. To sum up, this report seeks to demonstrate that it was possible to explore, both in the practical and theoretical components, the various concepts and elements of the institutional and diplomatic world as well as the role that technology has within the area of translation. All this learning anchored in my own perspectives and opinions was essential and crucial to my professional and personal growth.
