| dc.description.abstract | O presente estudo visa identificar os efeitos terapêuticos da ayahuasca em indivíduos com sintomas de ansiedade, através da compreensão dos processos psicológicos que emergem durante e após a experiência com ayahuasca, percebidos pelos participantes como exibindo maior potencial terapêutico. O estudo contou com nove participantes, que se deslocaram ao Temple of the Way of Light para obter alívio dos seus sintomas de ansiedade. O estudo segue uma metodologia qualitativa, tentado aproximar-se, tanto quanto possível, da perspetiva dos participantes. A recolha de dados foi realizada através de entrevista em profundidade. Os dados foram analisados através de uma abordagem semi-indutiva, seguindo-se de uma análise temática apoiada pelo software de análise de dados N-Vivo 11 ®. Concluímos que a ayahuasca é percebida como exibindo grande potencial terapêutico para o alívio dos sintomas de ansiedade na medida em que, da análise das perceções dos participantes emergiu um amplo e relevante conjunto de processos psicológicos que a literatura associa ao tratamento da ansiedade, tais como a tomada de consciência, autoconhecimento, autoaceitação, exposição ao problema, reconexão com o mundo, catarse emocional e o reconhecimento dos sintomas físicos primários e situações que provocam ansiedade. | dc.description.abstract | The aim of the present study resides on the identification of the therapeutic effects of ayahuasca in individuals with anxiety symptoms, through the understanding of the psychological processes that emerge during and after the experience with ayahuasca, which were understood by the participants as exposing a greater therapeutic potential. The study included nine participants that came to the Temple of the War of Light in order to get a relief on their anxiety symptoms. The study follows a qualitative methodology, with the attempted approach to get as close as possible to the participants perspective. The data collection was conducted through an in-depth interview and were analyzed by a semi-inductive approach and followed by a thematic analysis that was supported by the data analysis software N-Vivo 11®. We can conclude that ayahuasca is understood as having a high therapeutic potential on the anxiety symptoms in respect on the analyses of the participants perceptions that resulted in a wide and relevant collection of psychologic processes which literature associates to the anxiety treatment, such as the gain of consciousness, self-awareness, self-acceptance, exposure to the problem, reconnection with the world, emotional catharsis and the recognition of the primary physical symptoms and the situations that cause anxiety. Accordingly to the participants, they played a preponderant role on the relief of the symptomatology. | pt_PT |
