| dc.description.abstract | This thesis strives to give insights whether digitalization in the meal delivery with a focus on smart speakers can lead to superior performance. One finding is that an increased access to smart speakers has a positive effect on the number of meals ordered at home. It further finds that an increased ability of smart speakers to understand voice input could accelerate sales of smart speakers significantly. The main finding of this work is that the digitalization within the meal delivery industry with a focus on smart speakers does lead to superior performance. Since the topic is very recent this work gives the reader a framework to understand the functionality of smart speakers and the underlying technologies such Natural Language Processing which is based on artificial intelligence. Moreover, different digital business models within the meal delivery industry are introduced to give the reader an overview on the market, recent developments, and the market potential. The market research found that restaurants focusing on digitalizing can indeed achieve significant superior performance. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | A presente tese ambiciona avaliar como a digitalização no mercado de entrega de comida, concretamente com inclusão de smart speakers, pode levar a uma performance superior. Uma conclusão é que o aumento no acesso a smart speakers tem um efeito positivo no número de refeições encomendadas a partir de casa. Também acrescenta que a crescente habilidade de smart speakers em perceber inputs vocais pode acelerar significativamente as vendas de smart speakers. No entanto, a conclusão principal desta tese é que a digitalização dentro da indústria de entrega de comida pode levar a uma performance superior. Uma vez que este tópico é bastante recente, a presente tese fornece ao leitor uma framework para perceber a funcionalidade de smart speakers e as tecnologias que estes têm como base, como por exemplo PLN (Processamento de Linguagem Natural), que é baseado em inteligência artificial. Adicionalmente, diferentes modelos de negócio digitais dentro desta mesma industrIa são introduzidos para dar ao leitor uma visa geral do mercado, desenvolvimentos recentes e o mercado potencial. A pesquisa de mercado demonstrou que restaurantes que se focam na digitalização podem de facto atingir uma performance significativamente superior. | pt_PT |
