As cartas trocadas entre Jorge de Sena e João Gaspar Simões, entre 1943 e 1977, mostram-se bastante ricas em vários aspetos, apesar da sua escassez. As suas existências enquanto escritores e críticos literários têm alguns pontos de aproximação. Contudo, são muito mais as diferenças que os separam. Tudo isso explica o afastamento que aconteceu entre os dois intelectuais, superado por um reencontro final. O importante é o saldo desta correspondência, materializado no amplo interesse documental, em termos culturais e literários.
The letters exchanged between Jorge de Sena and João Gaspar Simões, between 1943 and 1977, are quite rich in several aspects, despite their scarcity. Their existences as writers and literary critics have some points of rapprochement. However, it is much more the differences that separate them. All this explains the estrangement that happened between the two intellectuals, overcome by a final reunion. What is important is the balance of this correspondence, materialized in the broad documental interest, in cultural and literary terms.
