A presente nota de investigação atenta na última edição de 2006 de “History and Theory”, revista científica norte-americana publicada pela Wesleyan University.
Este título, debruçando-se desde 1960 sobre os domínios da Filosofia, Teoria e Metodologia da História, foi no seu quadragésimo quinto número temático integralmente dedicado à reflexão acerca da relação entre Religião e História, com particular enfoque sobre os pressupostos epistemológicos que, de acordo com diferentes formulações, escoram o trabalho de investigação contemporâneo. É apresentada uma breve síntese crítica do volume, composto por nove ensaios (David Shaw; Constantin Fasolt; Mark Cladis; C.T. McIntire; David White; Brad Gregory; Jon Butler; Catherine Bell; James Ketelaar) nos quais são propostos diferentes figurinos teóricos destinados à superação das limitações identificadas na presente abordagem historiográfica ao fenómeno religioso.
The present research note concerns History and Theory’s last issue of 2006. This north-american academic journal was created at Wesleyan University in 1960, and is devoted to Theory and Philosophy of History. Its forty-fifth theme issue intends to characterize the long-standing relationship between Religion and History, with particular focus on the epistemological questions that challenge contemporary research. A brief summary and review of this nine essay volume (David Shaw; Constantin Fasolt; Mark Cladis; C.T. McIntire; David White; Brad Gregory; Jon Butler; Catherine Bell; James Ketelaar) is presented, considering multiple interpretive strategies and methods of analysis that aim to overcome limitations on present day historiographical approaches.
