Este projeto trata a influência dos álbuns fotográficos na prática da fotografia artística, focando na sua origem e nos modos de utilização como objeto comum no final do século XX, assim como as razões para o declínio de seu uso. A pesquisa examina a importância da materialidade do álbum fotográfico e a relação entre a fotografia vernacular e a fotografia autoral. A abordagem teórica é sustentada pelos textos Interpreting Vernacular Photography: Finding ‘Me’ – A Case Study, de Catherine Whalen; Vernacular Photography, de Geoffrey Batchen; e Photography: A Middle-brow Art, de Pierre Bourdieu.
This project investigates the influence of photographic albums on the practice of artistic photography, focusing on their origin and common use as objects in the late 20th century, as well as the reasons for their decline. The research examines the importance of the materiality of the photographic album and the relationship between vernacular photography and Fine-Art photography.
