Abstract(s)
This article explores the constitution of an art collection within a psychiatric hospital context. Focusing on the case study of Miguel Bombarda Hospital, which was closed in the wake of mental health reforms, parallels are drawn between the history of institutional practices and the functions of artistic expression, based on a fragmented and undeciphered archive. Once understood as the cultural heritage of health, this archive allows for the construction of new narratives about the psychiatric institution, based on the records of the subjective experiences of the individuals who passed through.
