O presente estudo teve como objetivo caracterizar um grupo de casais portugueses com diagnóstico de infertilidade, candidatos a técnicas de PMA (Procriação Medicamente Assistida) e que estão a ser acompanhados em dois serviços de PMA do norte de Portugal integrados no Serviço Nacional de Saúde (SNS), considerando as características sociodemográficas da infertilidade, a presença ou ausência de sintomatologia ansiosa e depressiva, e intimidade na relação diádica. A amostra deste estudo é constituída por 70 casais (homens e mulheres), com um total de 140 indivíduos, com idades compreendidas entre os 25 e os 54 anos. Os instrumentos utilizados na recolha de dados foram o Screening of In-Vitro Fertility Treatments (SCREEN-IVF), a Escala de Avaliação da Intimidade na Relação (PAIR) e o Inventário de Problemas de Fertilidade (FPI). Tal como outros trabalhos descrevem, identifica-se sintomatologia ansiosa em 72.9% dos homens e 78.6% das mulheres, e sintomatologia depressiva em 17.1% dos homens e 21.3% das mulheres da nossa amostra, destacando-se o valor elevado de ansiedade em ambos os géneros. Relativamente ao número de tratamentos, estão relacionados com aspetos sexuais da intimidade nas mulheres. Como descrito noutros trabalhos, encontraram-se correlações entre algumas variáveis em estudo, tal como depressão e aspetos sexuais nas mulheres.
The present study aimed to characterize a group of Portuguese couples diagnosed with infertility, candidates for MAR (Medical Assisted Reproduction) techniques and who are being followed up in two MAR services in the north of Portugal integrated in the National Health Service (SNS), considering sociodemographic and infertility characteristics, the presence or absence of anxious and depressive symptoms, and intimacy in the dyadic relationship. The sample of this study consists of 70 couples (couples and women), with a total of 140 individuals, aged between 25 and 54 years. The instruments used for data collection were the Screening of In-Vitro Fertility Treatments (SCREEN-IVF), the Relationship Intimacy Assessment Scale (PAIR) and the Fertility Problems Inventory (FPI). As described in other studies, in our sample were identified in 72.9% of men and 78.6% of women anxious symptoms, and in 17.1% of men and 21.3% of women depressive symptoms. As for anxiety, there is a high value in both genders. Regarding the number of treatments, they are related to sexual aspects of intimacy in women. As described in other works, we found correlations with some dimensions of intimacy and depression in women, for example sexual aspects.
