| dc.description.abstract | O presente estudo visa identificar os processos psicológicos que ocorrem durante a experiência com a ayahuasca e durante a integração dessa experiência, a fim de compreender o potencial terapêutico da experiência com a beveragem psicoativa, em indivíduos com sintomatologia depressiva. A presente investigação contou com seis participantes, de várias nacionalidades, que se deslocaram ao Templo, em procura de um tratamento alternativo para a sintomatologia. A investigação segue uma metodologia qualitativa, uma vez que se pretende caracterizar a experiência de forma aproximada à perspetiva dos participantes. Como tal, foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas em profundidade. Procedeu-se a uma análise semi-indutiva dos dados recolhidos. E como estratégia específica de análise, foi realizada uma análise temática, com recurso ao programa N-Vivo® 11. Assim, os resultados obtidos permitiram identificar diversos processos psicológicos que ocorrem durante a experiência e durante a integração da experiência com a ayahuasca, que se assumem como relevantes para a diminuição da sintomatologia depressiva, principalmente o Autoconhecimento, a Aceitação, a Conexão, o Decentering, a Reestruturação Cognitiva, a Autonomia, a Valorização do Eu e, finalmente, a Auto-atualização e Autorrealização, sendo que estes resultados foram suportados pela literatura. São apresentadas implicações dos resultados obtidos, bem como, limitações do estudo e sugestões para futuras investigações. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The present study seeks to identify the psychological processes that occur during the experience with ayahuasca and during the integration of that same experience, to understand the therapeutic potential of the psychoactive beverage on individuals with depression symptoms. There were six participants included in the investigation, of different nationalities, that went to the Temple in order to seek an alternative treatment for their symptomatology. The study design follows a qualitative methodology, since we aim to characterize the experience according to the participants’ perspective. With that in mind, semi-structured in-depth interviews were carried out. This was followed by a semi-inductive analysis of the collected data and, a thematic analysis was conducted as a specific analysis strategy, with the support of N-Vivo® 11. The obtained results allowed for identifying several psychological processes that occur during the experience and during the integration of the experience with ayahuasca, that are considered significant to the reduction of the depressive symptomatology, mainly Self-knowledge, Acceptance, Connection, Decentering, Cognitive Restructuring, Autonomy, Self-worth and, finally, Self-actualization and Self-realization, as literature was resorted to, in order to support these findings. Implications of the obtained results are presented, as well as limitations of the study and considerations for future investigations. | pt_PT |
