Duque, João ManuelA strict notion of identity, defined either by its territoriality or by its cultural or individualistic reduction, can find support in a conception of religion whose sole reference is to a single true God or to a sacrificial process, leading to an inevitable relationship between religion and violence. In this paper, however, another principle, inspired by Paul Ricoeur, Jacques Derrida, Jan Patocka and Emmanuel Levinas, has been adopted. It explores the excessive and gratuitous nature of the religious, interpreted as responsibility and concretely applicable to the dynamics of unconditional hospitality Such an approach gives rise to nomadic religious identities that, in principle, should be immune to the possibility of violence, unless it is, for reasons of identity, a "violence" against violence.
- Uma imagem de Deus para o futuro da EuropaPublication . Duque, João ManuelO artigo pretende explorar o possível impacto da imagem de Deus originada no judaísmo e no cristianismo sobre alguns elementos da configuração da Europa, em perspetiva essencialmente cultural, embora com efeitos também políticos. Não se pretende avaliar esse impacto apenas interior das comunidades cristãs ou judaicas, ou seja, em relação aos crentes dessas tradições religiosas. Pretende-se alargar esse impacto à spciedade europeia, como tal, uma vez que o efeito dessa imagem de Deus pode referir-se também os não crentes, sobretudo no modo como interpretam o seu quotidiano e as respetivas estruturas sociais. Não se trata, portanto, da recuperação de um sistema teocrático, mas da possibilidade de efeitos da referência a Deus, como se Deus não existisse.

Duque, João ManuelThe article intends to understand the philosophical meaning of the concept of “post-truth”, as well as its possible relation with religion, through the conjugation with the ethical-pragmatic dimension. In order to achieve this goal, it is proposed to use the debate between hermeneutics and critique of ideologies, based on the analysis elaborated by Ricoeur and involving the way in which Hannah Arendt relates truth and politics. It follows that rather than deriving the truth from the facts, it is possible to derive the facts from the truth, conceiving it as an eschatological orientation to action, in function of certain ethical requirements. This dimension, both ethical and eschatological, allows us to understand the relationship between (post)truth and religion.
