Rodrigues, Ivo Miguel Ferreira de Castro; Rodrigues, Anabela SantosThis dissertation investigates the relationship between communication climate, conflict management styles and affective organisational commitment among employees. A quantitative study used the Portuguese versions of the Rahim Organisational Conflict Inventory-II (ROCI-II), the Communication Measurement Scale (CMS), and the affective organisational commitment scale developed by Meyer and Allen. The results indicate that a positive communication climate is associated with more collaborative conflict management styles and higher levels of affective commitment. Furthermore, the avoidance style significantly mediated the relationship between communication climate and organisational commitment. These findings highlight the importance of fostering effective internal communication and constructive conflict resolution strategies to promote employee engagement and well-being.
