Abstract(s)
For a regular practice of sport, it is necessary to evaluate the body water status because it is determinant for the performance of the athletes and to prevent complications caused by ex-treme variations of the water state. Thus, several methods of water variations analysis have been developed. The most common are based on serum osmolality, sodium concentration, urinary osmolality, body mass, skin condition and mucosal moisture. In addition, bioelectri-cal impedance analysis, which is the measurement of resistance to electrical current passing through the body, is also usually used. Given the complexities associated with body fluid regulation and variations in tissue morphology, density, and distribution of each person, there is no standard procedure for determining precise levels of hydration during daily phys-ical activities. In this way, it is still a challenge to determine the hydration status in a rigorous and practical way, which leads to the development of new evaluation methods. Therefore, the body hydration status of 50 tennis players was analyzed based on the evaluation of bi-oimpedance through a previously developed portable sensor.
