Neste artigo, pretendemos articular a compreensão do cristia-nismo como estilo, de Theobald (2008), com aspectos da chamada so-ciedade em rede (Castells, 2007b). A metodologia consiste em explorar o conceito e as características da sociedade em rede, destacando, além do aspecto social, o cultural e o econômico. Na sociedade em rede, as relações sociais estão pautadas nos “nós” de uma rede que se articula como uma estrutura aberta; a cultura, chamada de virtualidade real, é caracterizada a partir da anulação do espaço e do tempo; e a economia, denominada informacionalismo, constitui-se como uma forma de ca-pitalismo extremamente eficiente. Nesse contexto, o poder das identi-dades revela-se como uma possibilidade de resistência. O cristianismo, entendido como um estilo (Theobald, 2008), aponta para elementos-chave necessários para o diálogo com essa sociedade em rede, uma vez que revela uma maneira de habitar o mundo, caracterizada pela “hospitalidade do nazareno”.
This article aims to articulate Theobald’s (2008) understanding of Christianity as style with aspects of the so-called network society (Castells, 2007b). The methodology consists in exploring the concept and characteristics of the network society, highlighting, besides the social aspect, the cultural and economic. In the network society, social relations are based on the “nodes” of a network that articulates itself as an open structure; the culture, called real virtuality, is characterized by the annulment of space and time; and the economy, called informationalism, is constituted as an extremely efficient form of capitalism. In this context, the power of identities reveals itself as a possibility of resistance. Christianity, understood as a style (Theobald, 2008), points to key elements necessary for dialogue with this network society, since it reveals a way of inhabiting the world, characterized by the “hospitality of the Nazarene”.
