dc.description.abstractIntroduction.– With aging and loss of relatives, institutionalization is many times a resort to the elder. However, with families migrating to other countries to find work, associated to the increase in work time, decreases the number of visits to our institutionalized relative. With this solitude presents as a condition in the life of the elder. Although this fact is well known, the knowledge of the prevalence of this condition in nursing homes in Portugal is very low. In order to assess the reality in a nursing home, the Biopsicossocial Assessment Method was used.pt_PT
