A ideia de jogo é de origem clássica: havia mesmo o hábito de jogos fúnebres em honra do morto. A sua presença é expressão dum ideário educativo, onde o desporto ocupa lugar de destaque para a formação intelectual dos alunos. Com efeito, para os humanistas do Renascimento, o desporto descansa e apazigua o espírito para a verdadeira concentração e bom aproveitamento nos estudos.
The idea of game comes from Classic Antiquity. Peoples used to play games to honour dead people. Their presence is the expression of an educational program, where sports is quite important to the students’ intellectual development. In effect, according to the Renaissance Humanism, sports rests and calms down the mind so that students can focus on the subjects. Buy doing this students achieve the true knowledge.
