Introdução: A morte é um acontecimento natural, que obriga o ser humano a confrontar-se com a mesma durante a sua vida. Materiais e Métodos: O objetivo desse estudo foi realizar uma pesquisa da literatura do que existe publicado nos últimos 6 anos sobre os sentimentos dos profissionais e estudantes da área das ciências da saúde face à morte. Trata-se de uma revisão de literatura do tipo descritivo. Os dados foram obtidos através das bases de dados b-ON e SCIELO. Resultados: O ser humano tem dificuldades em aceitar a própria morte porque implica aceitar a finitude da vida. É comum haver negação da morte pois negar permite afastar o pensamento da mesma. Discussão: A morte acarreta diversos sentimentos nos profissionais e estudantes da área das ciências da saúde como impotência, frustração, angústia, que se tornam mais intensos quando esta é inesperada ou em idade pediátrica. Conclusão: A morte causa desconforto ao ser humano, dado que realça a impotência face à terminalidade e/ou finitude porque não a consegue evitar.
