| dc.description.abstract | Este artigo analisa o percurso que levou a concessao da bula Manifestis probatum, inserindo-o dentro do quadro traçado pelas novas tendencias historiográficas, e privilegiando o ponto de vista romano, para perceber como a Sé Apostólica considerou e interpretou esta nova entidade política liderada por Afonso Henriques. A ideia básica é enquadrar as relaçoes Papado-Reino de Portugal como contactos entre duas realidades emergentes da Idade Média, tudo menos já que plenamente estruturadas e ambas carentes de reconhecimento. Essa necessidade só pode ser compreendida a luz das mudanças do contexto político e eclesiástico europeu em que estes dois atores tiveram que operar e que influenciaram profundamente as mesmas fórmulas e linguagens adotadas na documentaçao, especialmente no que diz respeito a chancelaria papal. Nesta última, expressoes aparentemente identicas poderiam assumir, em distintas cronologias, diferentes nuances e significados de acordo com o pontificado específico de cada papa, sem esquemas ou programas previamente definidos e organizados. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | This article analyses the path that led to the concession of the bull Manifestis probatum in light of recent historiographical developments, with a particular focus on the Roman point of view, in order to understand how the Apostolic See saw the new political institution led by Afonso Henriques. The relations between the papacy and the Kingdom of Portugal are here considered as an interaction between two emerging realities of the Middle Ages, both looking for acknowledgement. This need for legitimisation can only be understood in light of the changes in the European political and ecclesiastical context, which profoundly influenced the formulas and language adopted by these institutions in their documentation, especially by the papal chancery. The same expressions acquired different nuances and meanings in accordance with each pontificate, there was no linear and organised programme. | eng |
