In the second half of the XVIIIth century, the Álvares da Silva
Family, living in Baía (Brazil), left descriptions of their estates and pieces
of Decorative Arts, that were sent to their relatives living in Portugal.
Several jewels, silver, porcelain and furniture were mentioned, both in
the city house and in the countryside fazendas, and give an interesting
idea of the modus vivendi of a rich family in the colonial times.
