A Ratio Studiorum da Companhia de Jesus é fruto de um contexto, de uma história, de uma finalidade, dentro do que a Companhia de Jesus idealizou em termos da sua postura e intervenção no mundo da educação. Com este nosso trabalho, preten‑ demos focar‑nos na génese histórica da Ratio Studiorum desde as suas origens, até àquela que foi a única promulgada e publicada oficialmente e que, por isso, teve força de regula‑ mentação obrigatória: a de 1599. Refletiremos sobre as raízes da Ratio Studiorum, as quais se encontram na própria natureza humana: no homem, na sua transcendência e no seu destino pessoal e social. Abordaremos a ligação incindível da Ratio Studiorum com os Exercícios Espirituais de Santo Inácio de Loiola que são, na nossa opinião, a fonte estruturante e a coluna vertebral de todos os documentos educativos da Companhia de Jesus e dos jesuítas. Por fim, demonstraremos a atualidade e implicações da Ratio Studiorum para o mundo da educação contemporâneo.
The Ratio Studiorum of the Society of Jesus is the product of a context, a history, and a purpose, reflecting the ideals it envisaged in terms of stance and intervention in the world of education. In this work, we aim to focus on the historical genesis of the Ratio Studiorum from its origins to the only one officially promulgated and published which, thus, had the force of mandatory regulation: the version of 1599. We will reflect on the roots of the Ratio Studiorum, which lie in human nature itself: in man, his transcendence, and his personal and social destiny. We will discuss the inseparable link between the Ratio Studiorum and the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, which are, in our view, the structuring source and backbone of all the educational documents of the Society of Jesus and the Jesuits. Lastly, we will demonstrate the contemporary relevance and implications of the Ratio Studiorum for the modern world of education.
