A comunidade brasileira em Portugal tem crescido bastante nos últimos anos e atualmente é a maior neste país: legalmente, são aproximadamente 250 mil, mas estima-se que haja um total de 500 mil brasileiros. Apesar de haver quem tenha uma vida digna de estudo, trabalho e lazer, muitos são os que se encontram em situação de miséria, pedindo ajuda ao governo para regressarem ao Brasil. Este aumento exponencial de brasileiros se deve ao desemprego e à instabilidade econômica no país de origem, à procura pela segurança e à influência de YouTubers brasileiros que vivem em Portugal e que “vendem” o país como se fosse um dos reinos mágicos de Walt Disney. Portugal é um país de muitas qualidades em variados aspectos como gastronomia, clima, paisagens, cultura e povo. Todavia, o cenário fantasioso que muitos influenciadores designam à Portugal é contestável em qualquer país. O objetivo deste estudo é entender como vivem os brasileiros que moram em Portugal. Quais foram as influências e as motivações para imigrarem para o país? Em que condições vivem: estudam, trabalham, têm lazer? Como é o relacionamento com os portugueses? Quais são as dificuldades culturais e linguísticas encontradas? Como os brasileiros percebem e vivenciam as semelhanças e diferenças entre as duas nacionalidades? Como se dá o princípio da interculturalidade? Será que o discurso do respeito à diversidade é real ou meramente folclórico? (Cabecinhas e Cunha, 2008). Para isso, será adotada a metodologia qualitativa, com uma perspectiva interpretativista buscando compreender o fenômeno do ponto de vista dos próprios participantes e também de profissionais (de entidades e/ou associações) relacionados às questões luso-brasileiras por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas em profundidade. Será entrevistada uma pequena amostra de brasileiros que mudaram a partir do ano de 2016, quando este crescimento vertiginoso começou. O método para escolha dos entrevistados será o bola de neve. O fenômeno será estudado de forma interdisciplinar à luz dos Estudos Culturais e da Comunicação, por meio das teorias da Identidade Social e da Comunicação Intercultural. Esta pesquisa de caráter exploratório visa a familiarização com o atual contexto de convivência entre brasileiros e portugueses com o propósito de uma investigação mais aprofundada na tese de doutoramento. A sua relevância para a academia incidirá na área de Estudos dos Povos e Culturas de Expressão Portuguesa, uma vez que estuda a interação entre dois povos da Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa - CPLP. Propõe-se, assim, que este mesmo estudo possa vir a ser realizado sob o ponto de vista e percepção dos portugueses sobre a convivência com os brasileiros que residem em Portugal, bem como a percepção de ambos sobre a comunidade portuguesa no Brasil e ainda as inter-relações entre os demais países componentes da CPLP. A significância dos mesmos está em contribuir para a melhoria das relações, a visibilidade de seus povos e a representatividade da língua portuguesa no mundo.
The Brazilian community in Portugal has grown significantly in recent years and is currently the largest in this country: legally, there are approximately 250 thousand, but it is estimated that there is a total of 500 thousand Brazilians. Although some have a dignified life of study, work, and leisure, many are in situations of poverty, seeking government assistance to return to Brazil. This exponential increase in Brazilians is due to unemployment and economic instability in the country of origin, the search for security, and the influence of Brazilian YouTubers living in Portugal who "sell" the country as if it were one of Walt Disney's magical kingdoms. Portugal is a country with many qualities in various aspects such as gastronomy, climate, landscapes, culture, and people. However, the fanciful scenario that many influencers assign to Portugal is questionable in any country. The objective of this study is to understand how Brazilians living in Portugal live. What were the influences and motivations for immigrating to the country? Under what conditions do they live: do they study, work, or have leisure? What is the relationship with the Portuguese? What are the cultural and linguistic difficulties encountered? How do Brazilians perceive and experience the similarities and differences between the two nationalities? How does the principle of interculturality work? Is the discourse of respect for diversity real or merely folkloric? (Cabecinhas and Cunha, 2008). For this purpose, a qualitative methodology will be adopted, with an interpretative perspective seeking to understand the phenomenon from the participants' point of view and from professionals (from entities and/or associations) related to Luso-Brazilian issues through in-depth semi-structured interviews. A small sample of Brazilians who have relocated since 2016, marking the beginning of this significant growth, will be interviewed. The method for choosing interviewees will be the snowball method. The phenomenon will be studied interdisciplinary in light of Cultural Studies and Communication, through theories of Social Identity and Intercultural Communication. This exploratory research aims to familiarize with the current context of coexistence between Brazilians and Portuguese with the purpose of further investigation in the doctoral thesis. Its relevance to academia will focus on the area of Studies of Peoples and Cultures of Portuguese Expression, as it studies the interaction between two peoples of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries - CPLP. It is proposed, therefore, that this same study may be carried out from the point of view and perception of the Portuguese about coexistence with Brazilians living in Portugal, as well as the perception of both about the Portuguese community in Brazil and the interrelationships among the other component countries of the CPLP. Their significance lies in contributing to improving relations, the visibility of their peoples, and the representativeness of the Portuguese language in the world.
