Neste ensaio, estuda-se a ascendência do conceito de “religiões de salvação”, descobrindo as continuidades e descontinuidades que caracterizam essa herança. Demonstra-se que este conceito não é uma forma de classificação das religiões. É, sobretudo, um instrumento teórico para compreender a natureza da eficácia do símbolo religioso. A apresentação de dois contextos socioculturais diversos – em África e no Atlântico norte – comprovam a plasticidade própria das práticas e doutrinas de salvação.
In this essay, we study the ascendancy of the concept of “religions of salvation”, discovering the continuities and discontinuities that characterize this heritage. It is demonstrated that this concept is not a system of religious classification. It is, above all, a theoretical tool for understanding the effectiveness of religious symbolism. The presentation of two different socio-cultural contexts – in Africa and the North Atlantic – shows the plasticity of the practices and doctrines of salvation.
