Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho investiga o papel desempenhado pela Internet como meio de difusão do radicalismo islâmico, destacando o aparecimento de utilizadores (v.g. Younis Tsouli, Aabid Khan), que não se limitam a participar em fora radicais, mas que disseminam informação radical e incentivam a prática de actos terroristas jihadistas. Para além disso, analisa as vantagens que a Internet oferece ao radicalismo islâmico, quer em termos de segurança dos utilizadores (aproveitando o anonimato), quer como meio de transmissão de informação e a sua relevância no processo de radicalização, com o objectivo de apontar algumas soluções para o combate deste fenómeno.
The present paper pretends to analyze the role played by the Internet as a mean to diffuse radical Islamism, pointing out that the emergence of users (v.g. Younis Tsouli, Aabid Khan), that not only participated in radical forums, but disseminated radical information – and also incentivized the practice of terrorist jihadist acts. Likewise it is important to analyze the advantages that Internet offers to radical Islamism – such as user´s security, as a mean to supply information – and what is the relevance of the Internet in the process of radicalization, with the objective to pinpoint some solutions to combat this phenomenon.
