A tradução da Bíblia é um exercício indispensável à compreensão deste texto por parte da esmagadora maioria da sua vasta comunidade de leitores. Assim, para que a receção do texto bíblico ocorra, é necessário que o tradutor combine competências técnicas e científicas com conhecimentos do ambiente cognitivo dos leitores, geralmente em contexto eclesial. Neste texto, procura-se apresentar as principais metodologias que têm sido desenvolvidas para a tradução da Bíblia ao longo dos séculos, com alguma incidência no método conhecido como “equivalência dinâmica”, utilizado desde a segunda metade do século XX. Em Portugal, o método de equivalência dinâmica foi adotado pela Sociedade Bíblica na produção da tradução interconfessional em português corrente.
The translation of the Bible is a vital process for the understanding of it by the majority of its vast community of readers. Thus, for the reception of the Bible text to occur, it is necessary for the translator to combine technical and scientific skills with knowledge of its readers’ cognitive environment, usually in ecclesiastical context. In this article, we intend to present the main methodologies that have been developed for the translation of the Bible over the centuries, with focus on the method known as “dynamic equivalence”, used since the second half of the 20th century. In Portugal, the dynamic equivalence method was adopted by the Bible Society in the production of interconfessional translation into current Portuguese.
