Vivemos numa era em que a produção designada "científica" aumentou exponencialmente, o que se justifica pelo desenvolvimento do interesse económico na aplicação da ciência e da tecnologia nas várias valências da sociedade. O aumento da especialização nas diversas áreas, bem como o incremento de estudos pós-graduados, centros de investigação e outros semelhantes têm originado um crescimento significativo no número de investigadores e de instituições de investigação, sendo necessário repensar os princípios éticos basilares da investigação científica, que devem ser respeitados pela grande multiplicidade de áreas que produzem conteúdos científicos.
We live in an era in which scientific production has increased exponentially, which is justified by the development of economic interest in the application of science and technology in the many facets of society. Increased specialization in various fields, as well as the increase in postgraduate studies, research centers and similar have originated a significant growth in the number of researchers and research in st itutions; it is necessary to rethink the basic ethical principies of scientific research that must be respected by the great multitude of fields which produce scientific contents.
