| dc.description.abstract | Recently, the health sector has undergone several transformations due to the new business model called VBHC. Thus, new concepts were born, such as the PROM. The PROM is a questionnaire directed towards the patient to measure their perception regarding the disease and show the outcomes after the treatments. Hence, given the success of these indicators in other countries, the Hospital da Luz de Lisboa, decided to implement this new service. This dissertation aims to prepare the PROM’ use to be implemented in the oncology ‘area in the future, since cancer is the second leading cause of death in Portugal (NHS, 2018). For this, a Cross-sectional-formal-descriptive study research was conducted through in-depth interviews and a PROM from EORTC to breast cancer patients who underwent breast reconstruction. With the interviews it was conclude that PROMs have benefits and limitations, but some of the limitations described in literature no longer apply. We collected a sample of 40 patients from the HL, it was verified that there was an improvement in their quality of life (QOL) after treatments caused by an improvement in sexuality and the nipple’ preservation and reconstruction. However, QOL isn’t significantly dependent of age, but it has been observed that older women have a lower QOL than younger ones. By this investigation it was showed that PROM is a useful tool in oncology area because it helps perceiving the patients’ vision of factors that most influence QOL to improve the treatments and can help future patients with the same disease. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Recentemente, o sector da saúde tem passado por diversas transformações devido ao novo modelo de negócio intitulado VBHC. Assim, novos conceitos têm surgido, como o uso do PROM. O PROM é um questionário direccionado para o paciente para medir a percepção deste em relação à doença e mostrar os outcomes após os tratamentos. Devido ao sucesso destes indicadores noutros países, o Hospital da Luz de Lisboa, decidiu implementar este novo serviço. Esta dissertação visa preparar a utilização do PROM para ser implementado futuramente na área de oncologia pois o cancro é a segunda causa de morte em Portugal (NHS, 2018). Para tal, realizou-se um estudo transversal-formal-descritivo através de entrevistas e de um PROM proveniente da EORTC a pacientes oncológicos que fizeram a reconstrução da mama. Com as entrevistas concluiu-se que os PROM apresentam benefícios e limitações, mas algumas das limitações descritas na literatura já não se aplicam à actualidade. Foi recolhida uma amostra de 40 pacientes do HL, verificou-se um aumento na sua qualidade de vida (QV) após os tratamentos, causado pela melhoria da sexualidade e preservação e reconstrução do mamilo. Contudo, apesar da QV não depender significativamente da idade observou-se que as mulheres mais velhas têm uma QV inferior às mais novas. Com esta investigação, foi demonstrado que o PROM é uma ferramenta útil na área de oncologia, pois ajuda a perceber a visão dos pacientes sobre os fatores que mais influenciam a QV, para melhorar os tratamentos e a auxiliar futuros pacientes com a mesma doença. | pt_PT |
