O presente texto tenciona abordar, em jeito de ponto da situação, a quaestio disputata das origens do gnosticismo antigo. Não pretendendo desenvolver todas as vertentes associadas a esta questão e muito menos propor uma solução para a mesma, centrar-nos-emos nos grandes campos de contacto que explicam a complexidade do fenómeno gnóstico. Não deixaremos, ainda assim, de procurar mostrar a sua ambígua e profunda afinidade com o cristianismo no seio do qual se afirmou como religião parasita e concorrente
The present text intends to approach the quaestio disputata of the origins of ancient Gnosticism. Not intending to develop all the aspects associated with this issue, much less to propose a solution to it, we will focus on the elements of contact that explain the complexity of the Gnostic phenomenon. Even so, we will try to show the particular and ambivalent affinity of Gnosticism with Christianity.
