Nesta comunicação apresentam-se, de forma exploratória, algumas das perspectivas teóricas que se vêm afigurando como mais sugestivas para a análise do Serviço Social como profissão feminina. Essencialmente exploram-se algumas pistas teóricas sugerindo que os estereótipos de género encerram consequências para o Serviço Social, enquanto profissão fortemente marcada pela diferenciação sexual, na sua história e estatuto que se apresentam como relevantes para a compreensão da profissão na actualidade num contexto societário em que se observa uma dinâmica de reconfiguração das profissões sociais.
This communication presents, in an exploratory approach, some of the most suggestive theoretical perspectives for the analysis of Social Work profession as a female profession. Essentially the paper explores some theoretical thoughts that suggest gender stereotypes are relevant to analyse Social Work, as a profession strongly marked by gender differentiation in its history and status. Issues that present themselves relevant to understanding the profession its self, and in the context of social professions reconfiguration that are occurring nowadays.
