Abstract(s)
A história da banca, em Portugal, tem merecido uma certa atenção da parte dos investigadores. Na maior parte dos casos, os seus responsáveis optaram por aproveitar o ensejo da comemoração de uma data significativa na história das empresas para a publicação dos respectivos estudos de caso. No presente trabalho de síntese, além de se fazer alusão aos resultados de parte dessa pesquisa, passar-se- -ão ainda em revista alguns tópicos considerados pertinentes, como sejam: a estrutura e o desenvolvimento da rede bancária; a cobertura do país pelos respectivos serviços; fusões e concentrações: estratégias e culturas empresariais. Simultaneamente, serão mencionadas algumas temáticas ainda insuficientemente esclarecidas e que seria de interesse investigar.
In Portugal, researchers have been paying special attention to thebanking history. In the majority of the cases, the responsible people for itdecided to seize the occasion of celebrating an important date in thehistory of the enterprises in order to publish their case studies. In thisbrief study, part of that research’s results will be presented, as well assome important aspects will be reviewed, such as: structure anddevelopment of the banking network; the coverage of its servicesthroughout the country; mergers and amalgamations: strategies andentrepreneurial cultures. Simultaneously, some ill-clarified subjects willbe mentioned, and it would be of a great interest to research them.
